Concept art for the webcomic I'll be doing this summer, called "Slogmeat". This is just a concept color test piece, and I wanted to play with mudokon sihlouette, kind of like the stockyards level, for those of you familiar with Abe's Oddysee.
since this is a colour rough, i suggest you introduce faaar more same value colour variation. I mean i see a little red, and a bit of green but you could really push that way further, even for such a dreamy landscape, you might want a bit of the local colour of objects coming through. Also seperate objects using saturation, in other words, all your blues are currently really saturated, bring some of those down and add more grey, that will then compliment the parts that are really saturated. Ontop of that add some tiny patches of complementary colours into your blocks of colour, it will make them come alive. Hope that helped
Wow! Beautiful, and I wish I had critique for you on it, but I don't. I'm sorry about that.

Awesome advice, will keep in mind when I rework this! I was generally just thinking about a couple of key Oddworld artworks that inspired me to make it, and definitely will play around with saturation and addition of more local color. Here are the Oddworld pieces I had in mind. [link]age=CAAO5&image=CA/AO/CAAO0129.jpg and [link]age=SSAO4&image=SS/AO/SSAO0105.jpg

i see where your going and notice both of them are composed, so that they have a light bg, so there taken from lower angles especially on the second one, to really play off against the light of the sky, so if you do anymore you might wanna keep that in mind, also having a lower shot will make the viewer feel more involved, you can always play with the terrain to get the right effects But try pining em up against the sky, it might help.
This piece is just excellent! Mudokons are so difficult for me to draw, I'm imagining they're difficult for anyone to draw, because we try to relate them with ourselves when they're more bird-like in reality. The way they walk in that carefree style, you've captured it perfectly even in this test drawing. What I notice the most is how you gave each Mud in the picture an identity, they're all doing their own thing and they got their individual attention. You even showed how you can detail a Mud with the art in the front.
If someone mentioned 'someone who can draw Mudokons' the first person I always think of is you.
oooooh, can't wait for the comic
This one is great...and I think that, sadly, I don't have anything else to say, because everyone else said it here...
I love the colours (that kinda glowy effect on Mudokons path is amazing!), the shading.....gotta love the stockyard level ^^. I wonder where they're going to...
all in all- a great piece of Oddworld fanart, as always .
